HTC Legend Axed By Bell

Bell has announced that they will no longer be carrying the HTC Legend due to some supply constraints but they're promoting the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant as an alternative to the Legend. The Problem with the Supply was the AMOLED screens that were only manufactured by Samsung. The Legend was a great-entry level Android phone with it's really cool aluminum body. It was packed with features but the main focal point he the fabulous AMOLED screen. Bell has said that the Legend ill be only available until supplies last but if you don't manage to get one from Bell, you can always go online.

Apple iPhone 4 Review

Apple's new iPhone has gain a lot of attention over the past month but the problem is that most of it is all bad. his reviews has been long awaited and I promise my review of this phone willl not be influenced by Apple's antenna problem.
First let's talk about the iPhone's screen. This capacitive LCD multi-touch screen is not the best screen on the market. The disadvantages of the LCD screen is that it is heavier and thicker than other screens but the upside is that this screen has a 960x640 resolution, which is pretty great. Don't believe about the screen having more pixels than the human retina because it is not true. The size of the screen is perfect at 3.5 inches, which is not big to hold. Apple claims that their new tempered glass is stronger and more flexible than plastic which is completely BS. The great thing is that this screen is scratch resistant but I wouldn't hesitate to put a screen protector on.
The design of this phone is astounding and sophisticated.  I have to hand it to Apple, they'v designed one of the best looking phones ever. This phone is one of the thinnest on the market right now. This new design is so much better than the 3G and 3GS which had the hideous curved plastic backing. I've always wondered why Apple changed from an aluminum back in the 2G to a plastic backing in the 3G and now the tempered glass backing in the new iPhone.
Apple has loaded the iPhone with an Apple-branded Samsung A4 processor which is clocked at 1GHz. The iPhone is loaded with iOS4 which is a big upgrade but is still missing some key features such as flash support and live wallpapers from Android. Other cool things about this iPhoen is that it has LED flash paired with a not so nice 5MP camera. Most of the "so-called" features should not be called features because they are widely available on most smartphones today.
Apple's new iPhone is a big improvement from the 3GS. Some of the features shouldn't be considered features but that's okay. This phone would be good for anyone who doesn't mind the antenna problem and for anyone because of it's sleek design.

Reasons Why The Dell Streak Isn't Worth It

The new Dell Streak has been released in the past month gaining a lot of attention but no in a good way. Some people say, including myself, the new Dell Streak came a little to late. This device has been plagued with setbacks which affected the official release date of the phone and now the features that it holds are all standard on most Android phones, so there is nothing to make it stand out in the crowd. The only feature that makes it stand out is the monstrous 5 inch screen and to me that is not really a feature it is just a disadvantage unless you have big hands or big pockets. This phone is plagued with disadvantages and I don't even think that the advantages can even out with the disadvantages. The big disadvantage is the size of the screen but many people will think this is an advantage though, so I will state the advantages and disadvantages of the screen. With the screen being so big, you would assume that the resolution would be better the than the regular 480x800 resolution. Well it's not and I believe this is a major let down but the upside of this screen is that this screen is great for watching videos or even reading a e-book. The other features of this phone are not that great, they're just standard features. This phone will not survive on the open market for long, it's just to big for the hands and is a hassle to hold when making a phone call. The device can be considered many different things, Dell calls it a tablet, while everyone calls it an over sized phone or a really small tablet. What do you think it is?

Droid 2 Pre-Order Available Tomorrow

Today Verizon announced that they will start taking in pre-orders for Motorola's Droid 2. The Droid 2 is basically a full on upgrade of the original Droid but still takes on the same shape. The new Droid 2 will have a 1GHz processor apposed to the Droids 600MHz processor. The new phone will also have a new design, a silver bezel on the front while there is a bluish hue backing. This phone will be shipped with Android OS 2.2 Froyo and has Flash 10.1 pre-installed. One big improvement for the Droid 2 is that is does not have a directional pad on the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Since the D-pad is gone the keys are more spaced apart. The rest of the specs of the new Droid 2 is that is contains a 5MP camera, 8 GB of on-board storage. The Droid 2 will be fully released on Thursday where it will be available at most Verizon stores.

Blackberry Torch Not An iPhone Killer

Tuesday morning Research in Motion released the Blackberry Torch which is so-called the iPhone killer. There is no point of believing that many people would choose the Torch over the iPhone. There are major differences between the two, so it is somewhat hard to compare them. The major difference between the two is that the Torch has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard while the iPhone doesn’t. That is the only advantage over the iPhone. I’m usually not an iPhone fan but this iPhone will rip the Torch to shreds. The iPhone is better is so many different ways. iPhone’s 3.5” 720p screen is no match for the Torch’s 3.2” VGA screen (640x480). Also Blackberry’s App World is far behind in the number of apps Apple has. Blackberry App World only has about 9,000 apps while Apple has a monstrous 225,000 apps. The new Torch will only be good for people who already use Blackberries or people who want to make a transition into a touch screen phone. The Blackberry Torch is no match for the iPhone 4. The comparison for the Torch is the Palm Pre Plus, which is not a good thing.

Blackberry Service Suspended in UAE

A few days ago the United Arab Emirates suspended Blackberry’s messenger, email and web functions as it poses a threat to national security because these functions are not easily monitored. I don’t understand why they need to monitor these functions, Canada and the United States don’t monitor these functions but I may be wrong. I think that these monitoring systems that the UAE has invades people’s privacy. The UAE was disappointed that the United States criticized them for this action but i don’t think that the United States should be worried about the UAE because what the UAE is doing is just plain wrong. I think that these politicians from UAE are just trying to plug the media which we believe is voiding the freedom of speech. I think that the UAE should change their suspension on Blackberry’s services as it might hinder a lot of economic problems for them such as tourism.

Jailbreaking is Legal, Still Voids Your Warranty

The U.S. Copyright Office has ruled that jailbreaking your iPhone is considered legal. This announcement came yesterday after Apple's complaints about the process of jailbreaking infringes on the copyright act. I have to mention that jailbreaking your iPhone stills voids your warranty. Also Apple has mentioned that there will be serious consequences on your iPhone is you jailbreak it, which I think is totally bogus. They claim that it can slow down your iPhone but there are certain 3rd party apps that allows you to cut the processes in your iPhone to make it faster. They have also said that jailbreaking makes your iPhone prone to viruses, which is not completely true. With jailbreaking your iPhone, you can install another 3rd party app that scans all the downloaded apps for viruses. All I can say is that jailbreaking your iPhone has so many advantages but the only disadvantage is that it voids your warranty. Have you jailbroken your iPhone? Was there any consequences?

Rogers, Another Company That Prefers Money Over People

Yesterday, Rogers released a press release stating that certain internet packages would be changed. There are only two packages that would be changed, Lite and Extreme, both involving the download limits. The Lite package has a limit of 15GB instead of 25GB and the overage fee would be $4 instead of $2.50. Also the Extreme package download cap was downgraded from 90GB to 80GB. Existing customers are not affected byu this change. This has come a day after Netflix announced that their service would be coming to Canada. Rogers has a similar service which is Rogers On Demand Online. To me this looks like a major cash grab by a  major corporation that does not care about its customers. Rogers is forcing people to upgrade their accounts so they could watch movies online from Netflix. This change by Rogers might hinder the success of Netflix, but if Netflix is successful, Rogers On Demand Online would not exist anymore. If you would like to keep track of how much you downloaded, go to this link and download the program.

More Bad News For Apple

Since Apple hasn't gotten good PR in the past few weeks, this setback could have Apple's PR be bad for the rest of the year. Apple released a statement that the white version of the iPhone 4 will not be available until later this year. They really couldn't be more vague on the release date. The reason for this delay was that the process of making a white iPhone was a bit more difficult that expected for Apple.

Since Apple is trying to get rid of the bad press for the antenna problems, their competitors are still rubbing it in. Many manufacturers replied to Steve Jobs' comment that stated that every phone has antenna issues to say that Apple is just trying drag them into the problem as well. Also Samsung has released an ad for is Galaxy S series that pokes fun at Apple's antenna problem. I find this quite funny.

Apparently You Can Get Kicked Off A Plane By Watching 9-11 Footage

Yesterday at Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Ontario, a man and his son got kicked off their flight for watching footage of the 9-11 attacks. The two people were on a plane bound for Orlando for Tuesday night before they were kicked off. It was reported that a few passengers were concerned about their safety and that is when the airlines acted to kicked these two people off.

I think it is ridiculous that someone was concerned for their safety when someone was watching a video. It's just a video, what harm can it do? Of course we haven't forgotten the 9-11 attacks but is it still that serious that a video can concerned us about our safety? People were so concerned, everyone apparently deplaned. To these two people who were kicked off, I think that they should give an explanation why but the airlines should give them a reason to be kicked off the flight. They should also give a refund as well. What do you think of this? Did people overreact? What would you have done? Please leave your answers in the comment section.

I Hate Modern Warfare 2 But I Still Play It

I am sure there are a lot of gamers that rage quit just because some noob pisses them off. I have compiled a list of the actions people use during the game that piss off other people like myself. Most of this list is compiled by myself but I added some other things that piss my friends off as well.

The number one thing that really pisses me off is when people noobtube. One reason I don't like people noobtubing is because it takes no skill to shoot. When paired with Danger Close Pro, it is like a nuke, you just can't dodge it because of it's extreme blast radius. The last thing that is cheap about the noobtube is when you get killed by it when it's a ricochet or a direct hit without exploding.

The other cheap way of pissing people off is RPGs with Danger Close Pro. Just like the noobtube, just point and shoot. When it is with Danger Close Pro it just becomes cheap. I believe that it is cheap because the blast radius is widened with Danger Close Pro, just like the noobtube.

The last thing that pisses me off in Modern Warfare 2 is when people camp. This is the one thing that makes almost rage quit every time. Don't you hate it when someone just stays in one part of the map and kills everyone without getting killed. People who camp are just noobs and they have a tiny brain because they don't have common sense that the guy they killed would come back.

Well, these are the things that piss me off in Modern Warfare 2. I'm sure there are things that I have missed, so if you have something that I have missed please share it in the comments section. Thanks.

Galaxy S in Canada? Froyo Update Coming To The Galaxy S?

Just hours ago a Rogers Wireless representative has confirmed that Rogers will offer a variation of the Galaxy S in Canada. Rogers plans to release the phone sometime this September but we still do not know what variation that Rogers will offer. Here are the variations we know of so far: International (Worldwide), Fascinate (Verizon), Vibrant (T-Mobile/Bell), Epic 4G/Galaxy S Pro (Sprint) and Captivate (AT&T). Since we know that Bell will be carrying the Vibrant version of the phone, Rogers will probably not carry it.

A few days ago a representative of the French branch of Samsung has reported that the Galaxy S phones that are sold in France which is the international version will get the Android 2.2 Froyo update in September. This may be good for other people around the world if they have the international version of the phone. But this might be a step ahead in the right direction for Samsung as they have a bad record for updating they Android phones with newer Android updates.

Apple is Not the King of Smart Phones Anymore

Recently Apple CEO Steve Jobs releases the so-called “revolutionary” iPhone 4. But that’s not the case anymore; Apple’s new iPhone 4 will be quickly dethroned by the new Samsung Galaxy S. Why is this phone going to dethrone the iPhone 4? Well, this phone is better than the iPhone in so many different ways.

Let’s start with the availability with all US networks. As of today, the iPhone 4 is only available on AT&T, while the Galaxy S is going to be available on America’s four major networks (Sprint – Epic 4G, AT&T – Captivate, Verizon – Fascinate and T-Mobile – Vibrant) but these phones are not going to be the same. Each carrier will have different variations of the Galaxy S. For example, Sprint has the Galaxy S Pro variation which is compatible with Sprint’s WiMax network.

The major difference between the phones is that the iPhone 4 is run by Apple’s iOS4 software while the Samsung Galaxy S is run by Android 2.1(Éclair) with Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0. Also Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S will have Android 2.2(Froyo) which boosts the speeds of the phone by at least three times. The iPhone 4 has access the Apple’s famous App Store which has more than 225,000 apps while the Galaxy S has access to the Android Market which has more than 65,000 apps. The problem with Apple’s App Store is that a lot of apps are not approved while apps on the Android Market are 3rd party apps and Android is growing with 10,000 new apps every month. Soon Android will catch up to the number of apps that Apple has in the next year.

The displays of both phones are very important features to everyone. The iPhone 4 has a 3.5” IPS LCD screen. I am not going to mention about the retina display part because it is not true. The 3.5” LCD screen has a resolution of 640x960 pixels. The Galaxy S has a 4.0” Super AMOLED display. The difference between the Super AMOLED and AMOLED screen is that the Super AMOLED cuts out glare by 80%. With the Super AMOLED display, the screen produces darker blacks and brighter whites, while the iPhone 4’s LCD display makes some of the blacks look like they are grey.

Now we are going to pay attention to minor details about both phones. The iPhone 4 runs on Samsung made (Apple branded) A4 processor. While the Galaxy S runs on Samsungs ARM Cortex A8 “Hummingbird” processor with an onboard GPU. Both processors run at the same speed but the Galaxy S is faster for day to day use and 3D gaming. Both phones have a 5 MP camera and record 720p video. The iPhone 4 offers LED flash while the Galaxy S doesn’t but the Galaxy S makes up for it with the features associated with the camera. The onboard storage is 16gb or 32gb on the iPhone 4 while the Galaxy S has 8gb or 16gb but the storage capacity can be added to the Galaxy S by microSD up to 32gb. Some features that the Galaxy S has and the iPhone doesn’t have are a FM tuner, DLNA support and flash support. The last small feature about the Galaxy S is that it is just as thin as the iPhone but is more than 20 grams lighter.

Overall the iPhone will soon be dethroned by the Galaxy S because the Galaxy S is better in so many ways such as the screen, processor, features and the fact about having flash support. Whoever is looking at buying the iPhone 4, look again at the Galaxy S. Lately the Galaxy S is gaining against the iPhone and is projected to sell 10 million units by the end of the year.
